In Haiti, the poverty level has risen extremely high in the more remote places of the country to a point that some places are not suited for living anymore. The Haiti Mission Incorporated was created in order to address the problems of the people who are living in this condition. Here are some of the projects that were created by this organization.
Now this organization was first formed in 1999 in Louisiana by a group of church members of the St. Bridget Church of Schriever. Now over the years, churches from all over the United States as well as Haiti have joined into this organization in order to help this poverty stricken land. Their direct partner in this area is the Church Parish of Our Lady of Assumption in the Diocese of Jeremie which is located in the poorest area of the region.
Since food is one of the most basic need of humans in general, what this organization does is that they bring farm animals from Leogane to this country. Since they have tie ups with farms in Leogane, they have no problem getting these animals. Before these animals would reach the destination, they would check to see if there are any diseases in the animals and would cure them.
As education is also one of the biggest problems in the country, this organization decided to build several schools. They have also taken the liberty of putting in all the necessary facilities that a school needs and fixed all the utilities. The staff like the teachers, maintenance staff, the nurses and other people were also produced by the organization.
Aside from schools, they would also build some houses in the area since most of the people here still live in huts. Of course just like the schools, they would also provide all the facilities and utilities in the house. This would include the water and other necessities that should be found in a house.
Another thing that they would address would be the shortage of clothes for the children, shoes in particular. It is for this reason that the organization ships shoes from America in order to give to the poor people in this area who do not have proper shoes. When the shoes and other garments are delivered, they are then brought to the school for distribution.
Soccer has become an obsession in the country which is why the organization used the sport as a means of inspiration to the people. They built a soccer field just for the people of Haiti complete with goal posts and all. These children were also given a lot of soccer balls for them to play with.
These are only some of the projects that the Haiti Mission is known for. Of course there are so many more projects that they have already done or are currently working on but these are some of the highlighted ones already.
